Online Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Tuesday, 8. December 2009

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve last game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
