Focus on Annie Duke
Monday, 7. June 2010
Annie Duke may not have won her 1st World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but Annie remains one of the most feared poker players around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While players from the "younger generation" of poker run amok following a big win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mum" to her four kids. She hails from NH and was raised into a family of poker players. If you do not believe that, have a look at her sibling, Howard Lederer, in action, who taught her the best method to compete in poker.
However, Annie Duke is not a small fry kind of girl and has earned her cut of difficult matches, which includes knocking out Howard along the way on numerous occasions.
Winning over three million dollars in tournament action, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and actor Ben Affleck, who wished to sharpen his abilities and become a big player at the poker table.
You might observe Annie at the Bellagio, you’ll catch her on TV and you might just even play with her in a web poker game, but do not bank on a simple win. Unless you’re a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not beat her. However, it is likely to be fun to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
