Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Tuesday, 1. July 2025
Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve closing poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest players around the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
