Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the familiar 52-card standard deck and a single joker. The gambler is dealt seven cards face up and the casino gets seven cards faces hidden.
A five card hand and a 2 card hand need to be made from the seven cards dealt, the 5 card hand has to be higher than the 2 card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand values to be larger than the houses.
