Fix Attention on Annie Duke
Friday, 9. April 2010
Mrs. Duke mightn’t have earned her first WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most powerful poker players at the ring games at The Bellagio in sin city. Annie’s longawaited WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "buried game" of Omaha hi/lo.
While competitors from the "younger crowd" of poker run wild after a big win at the tables, Annie goes back home and becomes "mom" to her four kids. Annie was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of poker players. If you do not accept that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who educated her how to play the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has succeeded at her share of hard tables, which includes knocking out Howard along the way on a couple of occasions. They’re both competitors that have the skill to acquire the huge bucks and do it with a grin.
Annie is a strong player at any poker table because she is a natural poker player, but it’s a little more than just being strong at the game. Annie is very smart and graduated from Columbia University where she majored in Psychology and English.
When you are seated across from her at the table you will see Annie Duke is there to play the game and she begins "summing" you up as soon as you sit down at the game table. If you can’t gamble like a winner, then do not bother.
Winning over $3 million in tournament play, Mrs. Duke branched out to become a adviser to both the UltimateBet poker room and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to enhance his skills and develop into a force at the poker table.
You might catch a glimpse of her at the Bellagio, you’ll see Annie on television and you may even play against her in an on-line poker game, but do not expect a simple win. Except of course you are a champion-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. However, it’d be exciting to say you played at the at the table with "The Duke".
