Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
