Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
