No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
