Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
